Hermosa Beach
The Ardmore Residence is a full renovation of a 1951 beach cottage. The home was designed for an immediate modernization of the floor plan and finishes, all of which would be repurposed in the fully designed and engineered second story addition. Phase one was executed to meet the client’s immediate needs while the plans were put in place for the future integration of the second floor. All structural engineering, finishes, fenestration and first floor layout was thoughtfully and painstakingly designed so that Phase 2 would have minimal impact on the work done in Phase 1.
In the first phase of the project, the client asked for an open concept floor plan that would maximize the livability of the modest home size. The Kitchen and Living Room open up through panoramic bi-fold doors to a natural wood deck with spacious outdoor living for al fresco dining and lounging. Modern finishes were introduced throughout, including a central board-formed wall, Taj-Majal quartzite and custom oak millwork.
